Have your say

Supported Submissions Sessions

The Australian Government is seeking community feedback on multiple issues impacting Autistic people over the holiday period. ASAN AUNZ contributors are volunteering their time to run supported submission sessions to help you to advocate on the issues that matter to you.

supported submission sessions

These sessions are intended to make it easier for Autistic adults to respond to consultations.

No need to register or rsvp. You can add the session to your calendar using the ‘Add to calendar’ links below or join using the ‘starting now’ links below on the day. All sessions are run at the same time.

Here are the session dates, with links to add them to your calendar:

  • Monday 15 December 2025: Disability Safeguards: Add to calendar >

Accessibility information

All sessions will be held on Microsoft Teams with video, automatic captioning and chat functions enabled. There will be a chat monitor as well as a facilitator. All forms of communication are valid. We hope to:

  • guide attendees through how to make the submission
  • share links to relevant websites and information
  • help clarify ambiguous questions or suggest how to approach answering them
  • provide thought starters if people go blank or need suggestions on topics
  • ask people to share their thoughts so we can learn from each other
  • run for about 90 minutes with a comfort break in the middle

ASAN AUNZ use plain language when we can, and we have an easy read version here >

Unfortunately, ASAN AUNZ does not have funding to provide translators, interpreters or live captioning. Our system has capacity to support it so please contact us if you would like to volunteer your services.

Supported Decision Making

People delivering these sessions are not training in supported decision making, but we encourage Autistic people to attend along with the people who help them with supported decision making.

These sessions won’t tell people what to say. ASAN AUNZ helps Autistic adults to self-advocate. We ask attendees to be respectfully curious about the perspectives and opinions of other Autistic people.
