Our Visual Story …
Advocating for our Diverse and Divergent Community
Moving into a new era for ASAN AUNZ, we are proud to share our visual story …
Since 2023, ASAN AUNZ has seen many exciting changes for our organisation, including important legacy members and founders passing the baton on to our next generation of custodians.
Creating strong visual connections to the Autistic advocacy movement and the neurodiversity movement, our new brand emerged from two key narrative elements: a colour spectrum; and advocating for our community.
Narrative Element One - Colour Spectrum
We have creatively used CMYK variations and RGB colour models in our logo design, shown above. CMY stands for cyan, magenta and yellow with the internal RGB colours being red, green and blue, K refers to black. When mixed, these colour models offer millions of colour possibilities – they represent a spectrum of rainbow colours and the diverse lived experiences of our community.
Narrative Element Two - Advocate + Empower
So, we have used speech bubbles, thought and writing bubbles to express advocating, in various modes, for our community.
Our Future
Rainbow colours embrace a multitude of intersecting identities and lived experiences. At ASAN AUNZ, we advocate for those intersecting identities and Autistic lived experiences; for this reason one of our circles is extended into a speech/word/thought bubble – this illustrates the work we do, advocating for our Autistic and neurodivergent kin.
Our logo is not segmented by lines or negative space, each piece is connected and overlapping. The use of overlapping elements illustrates a sense of community and connection; no element stands alone. The important advocacy work we do is done in community, for community.
We are diverse, divergent and stronger together.
